                          PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP
This is the third year in which the Patient Participation Group has been meeting and again we had a successful year during which 3 further meetings were held.
The chairman of the Group continues to be Mr P Bond who together with Mrs C  Esmond,Mrs J Edwards,Mrs B Mumby and Mrs E Thompson all of whom are patients of the Surgery form the Committee.Mrs Edwards joining during the Year. Also during the year Mrs J Connell became a virtual member as she could not attend meetings personally.(Virtual members are kept in touch by email etc)
Meetings are held on a regular basis throughout the year and are held on the Surgery premises.

The Practice actively advertises the existence of the PPG in the waiting room and on its Website and is always seeking new members.
Patients are approached by the staff as well to see if they would like to become members.
It is recognised that certain groups are particularly difficult to recruit when it comes to representation in particular younger patients so every effort is being made to attract these.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Group are to promote the benefit of the patients of the Practice without distinction of gender, race, colour or political, religious or other opinions by encouraging development and quality of health promotion and health care services;to achieve this by liaising with the doctors and staff of the Practice, other community health workers,Health Authorities and other persons or organisations concerned with healthcare.
The group shall be non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion. The group shall have power to affiliate to the National Association of Patient Participation Groups and to other organisations with similar objectives.

PATIENT SURVEY
Following on from previous Patient Surveys carried out in 2011 and 2012 a further Patient Survey was conducted in week commencing 9thJune 2013 when with the assistance from ACCORD hand held devices were used to record the patients responses to the survey questions which had previously been chosen by the PPG.
The results of the survey during which disappointedly only 12 were completed as opposed to 54 the previous year  were discussed at a subsequent PPG meeting when all the responses to all the questions included in the questionnaire were scrutinised and the varying satisfaction levels noted.
From this an Action Plan was formulated and agreed:-
Introduce online appointments in the future
Waiting times to see GP not acceptable.Further investigations to be carried out.Consider changing length of appointment times.
Next year divide questions of waiting times to see GP into two:- (a) Appointment Clinics and (b) Walk in sessions.
Increase Flu immunisation uptake in the over 65s and under 65s chronic disease patients.
Conduct the survey in 2014 in October.
All of the above have been or are in the process of being introduced.
The Action Plan and the results of the survey are displayed in the Waiting Room.

Also during  the year the PPG has discussed :-
The Care Quality Commission Inspection and Report
Healthy Lives,Healthy Futures
Clinical Pathways
